Is Your RV on the Recall List?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released several RV recall notices in February 2026, affecting more than 5,000 recreational vehicles across multiple manufacturers. While only a handful of recall campaigns were announced this month, they involve issues that could lead to fire hazards, structural problems, or reduced occupant protection in an accident.

These recalls serve as another reminder that RV owners should periodically check for open recalls to keep their rigs safe and road-ready.

Below is a summary of the most important RV recalls reported in February 2026.

  1. Ember RV – Incorrect Weight Labels

Certain 2026 Ember E-Series and Overland Series travel trailers were recalled due to incorrect information on the federal certification label.

What’s the issue?

The Unloaded Vehicle Weight (UVW) and Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) listed on the certification label may be inaccurate.

Why this matters

Incorrect weight information can cause owners to overload their travel trailer without realizing it, which may affect handling, braking performance, and tire safety.

Recall fix

Ember RV will mail corrected certification labels to owners so the correct weight ratings can be applied to the trailer. The fix will be provided free of charge to affected owners.

  1. Grand Design – Loose Seat Base Mounting

A recall was issued for certain 2025–2026 Grand Design Lineage motorhomes due to improperly tightened seat bases.

What’s the issue?

The driver and passenger seat bases may not have been tightened properly during assembly.

Why this matters

If a seat base becomes loose, it could reduce occupant protection and increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Recall fix

Grand Design dealers will inspect and properly tighten the seat bases as necessary, free of charge.

Winnebago – Heating Pad Fire Risk

Some 2020–2023 Winnebago View and Navion motorhomes were recalled due to a potential fire hazard.

What’s the issue?

A water tank heating pad may fail, creating a potential overheating situation.

Why this matters

If the heating pad malfunctions, it could increase the risk of an RV fire, which is why this recall is considered more serious.

Recall fix

Winnebago dealers will replace the faulty heating pad assembly to eliminate the hazard.

  1. Winnebago Towables – Roof Cap Detachment Risk

Certain 2026 Winnebago Access travel trailers were also included in the February recall list.

What’s the issue?

The front roof cap may detach from the trailer while traveling.

Why this matters

A roof component detaching during travel could create a road hazard for other drivers and damage the RV.

Recall fix

Dealers will inspect and secure the roof cap assembly to ensure it is properly attached.

Why RV Recalls Should Never Be Ignored

Even when a recall affects only a small number of RVs, it is issued because the defect could pose a safety risk to owners or other motorists.

February’s recalls involved issues such as:

  • Fire hazards from heating pads

  • Structural attachment failures

  • Loose seat mounting hardware

  • Incorrect safety labeling

Even something as simple as incorrect weight labels can lead to overloaded trailers, tire failures, and unsafe towing conditions if not corrected.

In total, the February recall campaigns impact over 5,000 RVs across several manufacturers.

What RV Owners Should Do

If you own an RV manufactured in the last several years, it’s a good idea to check for recalls periodically.

Step 1 – Check your VIN

Visit the official NHTSA recall lookup website and enter your RV’s VIN number.

Step 2 – Watch for manufacturer notices

Manufacturers will send official recall letters explaining the defect and repair procedure.

Step 3 – Schedule the repair

Recall repairs are typically performed free of charge by authorized dealers or service centers.
